MMoCA is Madison’s premier destination for contemporary art, yet it has long struggled with awareness. Although the museum is free and open to the public every day, many people feel intimidated or uncertain about walking in.
Our task was to create an identity that made the museum feel both recognizable and welcoming.We drew inspiration directly from the building’s architecture, infusing its distinctive forms, colors, and textures into the visual system to create an immediate connection to the space itself. The result is an identity elevated enough to showcase contemporary art, yet approachable and inviting—reflecting the museum’s mission to be open to everyone.
